How to replace iPod battery Step 2 - Turn off your iPod and put the hold button to the on position. You are going to have to take a flathead screwdriver, as thin as possible. Sometimes the website that sends you the battery will actually give you a tool. In any case, you must pry open the iPod, by putting the tool between the plastic and the metal, once you feel a clip, pry it ever so gently open. Continue around the iPod, prying open each latch.
How to replace iPod battery Step 3 - You are going to have to use that tool again to unstick the battery from the hardrive. They are stuck together. Once unstuck, unplug the battery from the board.
